AFU showed Russian prisoners of war captured during the counterattack near Lyman
Novoie, Redkodub, and Katerynivka have been liberated; 250 Russians were taken prisoner.
The Third Army Corps of the Armed Forces of Ukraine liberated Novoie, Redkodub, and Katerynivka, and also regained control over Karpiivka and Novomykhailivka. Enemy losses amount to 2,000 personnel, with over 250 Russians taken prisoner, the AFU reported.
51 km² of Ukrainian land have been liberated, and 176 km² since the start of offensive operations.
"The main goal of the third season of 'Vivaldi' was Novoie – the key enemy hub on the bridgehead. Whoever controls the heights around this settlement also holds the initiative on the bridgehead," said Andriy Biletsky, commander of the Third Army Corps.
"The enemy was convinced that the main direction of the strike was Shandyholove – Zelena Dolyna. This forced them to senselessly burn their reserves in counterattacks precisely in this direction. The Russians slept through the real strike, which was focused on taking Novoie," Biletsky said.
To break through the enemy's defenses, the Third Army Corps used its own development – Soviet BTR-60s converted into robotic kamikaze complexes. They were used to blow up the enemy's strongest fortifications.
