Windows blown out, apartments flooded. Who and how will compensate for the damage from the "fountain" on Zhukovsky Street in Minsk

Works to eliminate the consequences of the incident continued throughout the day.

Yesterday afternoon, a real emergency occurred in the area of Zhukovsky Street: a fountain, as high as a five-story building, erupted from under the ground. The district network was damaged – a 400 mm diameter pipeline was damaged, Onliner.by reminds.

As a result, the entrance of the nearest house, several apartments within it, and one car were damaged. Works to eliminate the consequences of the incident continued throughout the day.

To find out what exactly caused the accident, the "culprit" pipeline will be sent to the laboratory for examination. This will help prevent similar situations in the future.

The issue of material damage for residents is promised to be settled in due course.

As Andrei Matskevich, Deputy Chief Engineer for Personnel at the "Minsk Heating Networks" branch of RUE "Minskenergo", said, "Minskenergo" has an existing insurance contract for emergency situations, according to which the damage will be assessed and costs compensated.

"Each case will be considered individually," the specialist emphasized.

During the emergency repair and restoration work, hot water will be temporarily unavailable in several multi-story buildings on Zhukovsky, Mogilevskaya, and Voronyanskogo streets.

Closer to midnight, specialists announced that welding work at the site had been completed.

"At this moment, the heating network is being filled and turned on – hot water supply will be restored in the nearest future," "Minskenergo" explained.

The water discharge was stopped at 13:05, as reported by "Minskenergo". Works on the section in the Zhukovsky Street area are currently ongoing.

It is specified that the stage of pumping water from the thermal chamber has been completed. Now the energy services of the "Minsk Heating Networks" branch have started excavation work – digging is underway to precisely determine the location of the pipeline damage.

As an Onliner.by reader claims, during the gushing of water, streams blew out windows in the entrance opposite the incident site:

— Windows from the 2nd to the 5th-6th floors were blown out, apartments, the entrance, and Zhukovsky Street itself were flooded, — the girl states. — From the moment of the first call, the emergency service arrived at the scene only half an hour later.
