Canadian wildlife crossing to be tested on Belarusian roads this year

In the Grodno region, closer to autumn, a Canadian wildlife crossing – a special structure that prevents large wild animals from entering the road – is planned to be tested on the M-6 highway. Such sections are intended to be implemented in three locations.

The main feature of the wildlife crossing is that it does not hinder the movement of vehicles, cyclists, or pedestrians, but it deters animals. Due to its special design – often in the form of a metal gridding – large animals cannot step on such a surface and therefore do not proceed further.

A car can easily drive over it, a person can walk across, but a large animal, such as a moose or a roe deer, does not want to walk on such a place because the surface is uncomfortable for it.

This measure is intended to be used where protective fencing is interrupted – for example, near exits to forest roads or settlements. It is in such places that animals can enter the highway.

Belarus has also been conducting an experiment for almost two years with a "smart" wildlife crossing on the M-10 in the Gomel region. There, sensors detect the appearance of an animal near the road and signal to road signs to warn drivers.

According to official data, almost 5,000 road accidents involving wild animals were recorded in Belarus in 2025. In 2026, the number of such incidents is increasing. Roe deer are most often killed in accidents – about 70% of all cases, while moose account for 20%.

І дзе ў артыкуле хаця б выява, як ён выглядае? Як яны будуць бачныя вадзіцелям, тыя "усім вядомыя канадскія скатапрагоны"?

Ў Канадзе іх называюць "Texas gate".
Ці можна яшчэ пагугліць "Cattle grid", калі цікава як выглядае.
Капытамі па такому не паходзіш, бо правальваешся. Для быдла ў асноўным, каб не разбягалася.

І што?, Я зразумеу гэта так (толькi прадставiу, хаця нiчога пра гэта не ведаю, ну, ва усялякiм разе, я б так зрабiу): вялiкi роу уздоуж дарогi метрау пяць шырынёй i метр глыбiнёй. На iм ляжыць металiчная рашотка у клетку, клетка 15х15см. Машыны i людзi праз яе праходзяць, у ласей капыты правальваюцца i яны застраюць i ловяцца.
Ляснiкi, мясцовыя жыхары, цi iншыя браканьеры, тое "мяса" дастаюць i робяць барбекю з ласяцiны. Пад ласяцiну пьюць мясцовый вiскi (самагонку) i пяюць вясёлыя жартоуныя песьнi-прыпеукi.
