FIFA demanded that the Haiti national team change their kit design a few days before the start of the World Cup
All because of a battle scene on it.
The kit, which was used in two pre-tournament friendly matches, featured an illustration of the 1803 Battle of Vertières, which secured Haiti's independence, as well as the country's national flag.
However, the international federation's regulations prohibit placing any political, religious, or personal messages and slogans on the kit.
FIFA considered that some visual elements could be interpreted differently within the framework of its equipment regulations, and as a result, demanded changes to the design.
The Haiti national team plays in the World Cup in a group with Brazil, Scotland, and Morocco. They will play their first match against Scotland on Sunday night. Kick-off at 4 AM Minsk time.
This is, in fact, Haiti's second World Cup appearance. The Caribbean team first played in the World Cup in 1974 but lost all three group matches.
