At least 27 Belarusian servicemen imprisoned for political reasons
Since 2020, no fewer than 68 servicemen have been through prisons.
After the events of 2020 and the start of the full-scale war in Ukraine, Belarusian servicemen fell under a wave of politically motivated criminal prosecution. Many of them were subjected to torture, cruel treatment, and beatings, and some were stripped of their military ranks by Lukashenka's decrees.
According to "Viasna", during this time, at least 68 servicemen became defendants in criminal cases, 27 of whom are currently held in places of detention.
The persecution of servicemen continues to this day.
