Reportedly, the Canadian public broadcaster CBC/Radio-Canada has received full membership in the European Broadcasting Union (EBU). This grants the country the right to participate in the song contest and debut in next year's semi-finals. In the coming months, the method for selecting Canada's candidate will be determined.

The CBC/Radio-Canada management noted that participation in Eurovision will allow Canadian artists to be showcased on one of the world's most famous music stages. It will also enable Canadian viewers to continue watching and voting in the contest, but with added interest, as their country will be represented in the competition.

EBU representatives welcomed the decision and recalled Canadian singer Celine Dion, who won Eurovision in 1988, representing Switzerland.

According to the report, interest in the contest in Canada is already very high: during the last Eurovision, the country was among the top three in the "Rest of the World" voting category, as well as among international ticket buyers.
