More than 830 cars accumulated at the border of Belarus with EU countries
More than 830 passenger cars, trucks, and passenger buses are queued at the border of Belarus with European Union countries, according to data from the State Border Committee.
The largest number of passenger cars as of 4:00 PM gathered at the border with Poland. At the Bruzgi border crossing point, 110 cars are waiting, at Berastavitsa – 80, and at Brest – 147. At the latter crossing point, another 14 passenger buses are waiting to exit.
At the Belarusian-Lithuanian border, a queue of passenger cars has formed only at the Kamienny Loh border crossing point, where 80 cars are waiting to exit into Lithuania.
At the border with Latvia, at the Hryharouschyna border crossing point, there are 12 passenger cars in the queue.
Large queues are also observed among cargo transport. Most trucks are waiting in the Lithuanian direction: 80 at Kamienny Loh, and 150 at Bieniakoni.
At the Polish border, 123 trucks are standing before the Kazlovichy border crossing point, and another 15 are waiting to pass through Berastavitsa.
In the Latvian direction, 37 trucks are waiting their turn at Hryharouschyna.
Additional difficulties arose after the Latvian side suspended traffic through the Paternieki border crossing point, which corresponds to the Belarusian Hryharouschyna point. According to information from Belarusian customs authorities, traffic was stopped late in the evening on July 31 and has not yet been restored.
As a result, as of today, transport traffic across the Belarusian-Latvian border is virtually halted, as the second crossing point in this section – Urbany (Silene on the Latvian side) – was closed by Latvia back in 2023.
