Illusionist David Copperfield Stops His Shows. He Previously Appeared in Epstein Files

The 69-year-old famous illusionist David Copperfield announced that his last show at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas will take place on April 30. This decision was announced weeks after Epstein's case documents, which mention Copperfield's connections to convicted sex offender financier Jeffrey Epstein, writes The Guardian.

MGM Grand promised automatic refunds for tickets to the illusionist's shows booked after April 29.

David Copperfield had faced similar issues before: from 2007 to 2009, he was the subject of a criminal investigation for allegedly raping a woman he met at his show and invited to a private island in the Bahamas. However, Copperfield was never officially charged and repeatedly maintained his innocence.

New documents indicate that the FBI investigated Copperfield's connections with Epstein. Agents in Seattle in 2007 noted the need for further investigation to ascertain if both could have had an "inclination towards minors" and whether they exchanged potential victims. The materials also mentioned that Copperfield taught his staff to find young girls in the audience and bring them backstage.

The FBI noted that Copperfield's notebooks contained names and contact details of girls, as well as information about intimate relationships with them. The documents also mentioned that some of these girls were Epstein's guests.

The case against Copperfield was eventually closed then because, according to an FBI agent, the prosecution was "weak and intimidated by Copperfield's financial capabilities." The illusionist and his lawyers' position is that he was only an acquaintance of Epstein and never participated in wrongdoing.

MGM Grand stated in a press release that they thank Copperfield and his team for over 25 years of fantastic shows and wished him success in his future projects. The illusionist's lawyers have not yet commented on the new documents.
