Before Patriarch Kirill's visit to Brest, local priests are sent for tests
The visit of Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia to Brest, scheduled for June 21-22, is accompanied by unexpected security measures.
Local priests who will participate in the joint divine service with the head of the Russian Orthodox Church have been required to undergo an additional check, including submitting analyses, writes "Christian Vision".
The procedure scheme and what medics are looking for are not reported, but the clergy themselves note that during previous visits of the patriarch, the rules were simpler.
Patriarch Kirill's visit to Brest is timed to two dates — the 85th anniversary of the beginning of the Great Patriotic War and the 1000th anniversary of the death of Prince Vladimir.
On the morning of June 21, a liturgy will be held in the Holy Resurrection Cathedral in Brest, where the relics of Prince Vladimir will be displayed for the faithful. Bishops from Belarus, Russia, Poland, and Ukraine are expected to attend the service.
On the night of June 22, Patriarch Kirill will visit the Brest Fortress, where he will serve a litany and join the traditional rally-requiem.
