ML Vitebsk coach appointed

40-year-old Russian specialist Filip Sakalinski has become the head coach of ML Vitebsk.

Previously, Sakalinski was an assistant to Magomed Adiyev in the Vitebsk team, whose dismissal was announced on Tuesday.

Adiyev was appointed head coach of the club in late April after the dismissal of Mikhail Martynovich. Under Adiyev's leadership, the club played seven matches, in which it won four, drew once, and lost twice.

On Saturday, ML Vitebsk lost to Vitebsk in a national championship match and ceded first place in the standings to Minsk Dinamo.

On Sunday, ML Vitebsk will play an away match against Minsk in the 12th round of the championship.

On Tuesday, the opponent of the Belarusian champion in the first qualifying round of the Champions League was determined. It is the Romanian "Universitatea" from Craiova.

If ML Vitebsk wins, it will play the winner of the pair "Levski" (Bulgaria) — "Borac" (Bosnia) in the second round.

If they lose in the first qualifying round of the Champions League, they will play the loser of the pair "Kairat" (Kazakhstan) — "Sutjeska" (Montenegro) in the 2nd round of the Conference League.
