Belarusian woman asks railway to create women-only compartments — she encountered a sexually preoccupied man on her journey
Anastasia, a Belarusian woman, proposes to the management of Belarusian Railway to add an option to purchase tickets for women-only compartments or to allow passengers to know in advance the gender of people who have already bought seats next to them in the carriage.
"I want to understand the consequences," she argues, explaining that on March 30, on the Gomel-Brest train, she ended up in a compartment with a 65-year-old man who behaved inappropriately. "It's not normal to bring up sexual topics with hints about having sex. And the fact that I remained silent didn't mean I was okay with it — I was worried about my safety."

Another woman with her underage sons was traveling in the compartment with Anastasia. According to the girl, her fellow traveler went so far as to share his sexual records and declare aloud that incest is normal.
"I was shocked that he absolutely didn't care that there were small children nearby. Nobody could help us, so he just sat there and took advantage of it."
In the comments, the girl is asked why she didn't immediately complain about her compartment neighbor to the conductors, who could have taken measures — including moving the man to another compartment or even removing him from the train if the situation escalated. Anastasia explains her behavior was due to fear.
She believes that many people are afraid of conflict in similar situations, so, in Anastasia's opinion, the option of choosing a women-only compartment could be a solution to the problem.
Women in the comments are, for the most part, in solidarity with Anastasia, while men don't understand why she didn't defend herself or call someone to "slap" the unpleasant fellow traveler as a form of education.
"Could there be a passenger rating system? Accumulate a couple of complaints — and you can no longer ride public transport," another civilized solution was proposed.
