70-year-old liquidator arrested for political reasons in Gomel region. He was sent to a pre-trial detention center

Human rights activist Uladzimir Tselyapun from Mozyr was taken into custody in early April. It is believed that he was initially in the temporary detention facility (IDU) of the Mozyr District Department of Internal Affairs, after which he was transferred to SIZO-3. A criminal case has been opened against him, "Viasna" learned .

Details of the charges are unknown, but the essence of the case is political. On April 30, 70-year-old Uladzimir Tselyapun was recognized as a political prisoner.

Tselyapun is known in the region for his human rights activities, including the right to peaceful assembly. In 1986, he participated in the cleanup of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant accident. He has health problems.
