Goals were scored by Villa midfielders Youri Tielemans and Morgan Rogers, as well as forward Emiliano Buendía.
This is Aston Villa's first ever victory in a Europa League final.
"Incredible evening! Huge congratulations to all the players, team, staff and everyone associated with the club! 44 years since the last victory in a European tournament!", wrote Villa fan Prince William, who attended the match.
It is noteworthy that for Aston Villa's Spanish coach Unai Emery, this is already his fifth victory in the Europa League. In 2014, 2015, and 2016, he won the title with "Sevilla", and in 2021, he won the tournament with "Villarreal". Emery only lost once in a final, which was in 2019 when he coached "Arsenal".
Next Wednesday, the Conference League final will take place, featuring English "Crystal Palace" and Spanish "Rayo Vallecano" (kick-off at 22:00), and on Saturday, May 30, the Champions League final will be played between English "Arsenal" and French "PSG" (for the first time in a long time, the final will start at 19:00, not at 22:00 as in previous years).
