In Uzdensky district, a man tied a dog in the forest and left it there for 10 days

In the Uzdensky district, a case of cruel treatment of an animal has been recorded. A man tied his dog in the forest and left it there for approximately 10 days. He explained his action by claiming he was 'training' the animal, writes the district publication zorkanews.by.

A dog tied to a tree was found in the forest near the village of Nizok, Uzdensky district. The story became known after a TikTok video.

A woman named Hanna, who recently bought a dacha in this area, was walking her dog. A neighbor offered to show her 'mushroom spots', but instead led her into the forest and showed her the dog he had tied up himself.

The animal was in a severe condition — exhausted and dehydrated. Hanna was outraged and started arguing with the owner, but he couldn't clearly explain his actions to her. Only later, to the police, did he say that he was 'training' the animal in this way.

The woman did not abandon the dog: for several days she came to the forest, bringing it water and food. However, she was afraid to simply untie the animal, so that it wouldn't return to its owner again. The woman also couldn't take the dog home, as she already had another pet, rescued from the same village.

Then Hanna published the story on social networks and received help from volunteers. She contacted the police to officially record the fact of cruel treatment. Police officers (RAUS) and veterinary services arrived at the scene. During the examination, the dog was found to be moderately emaciated. This means that for a long time he had not received proper nutrition and care.

As a result, a volunteer took the animal to a shelter, where it is receiving help. Later, a new family will be sought for the dog.

An investigation is currently underway into this incident. Law enforcement officials are collecting all materials to determine what exact responsibility the owner will bear.

Belarusian legislation provides for several penalty options. If the actions are recognized as an administrative offense, the owner may face a fine (usually up to 15 basic units, and in more serious cases – up to 30), community service, or administrative arrest.

However, in this case, there are signs of a more serious violation, as the animal was effectively left without help and brought to exhaustion. Therefore, the case may be reclassified as criminal.

If cruel treatment leading to harm to the animal's health is proven, the owner may face arrest or restriction of liberty for up to 2 years. In the case of aggravating circumstances — up to 4 years of imprisonment.

In addition, the owner may be obliged to compensate for expenses related to the dog's treatment and upkeep.
