"He really helped the Ukrainian army." A satirical flashmob about Max Korzh launched in Ukraine
Unexpected excitement around the Belarusian singer Max Korzh began after publications by Ukrainian activist and blogger Serhii Sternenko on the social network Threads. He published several posts claiming that Korzh allegedly helped the Armed Forces of Ukraine. This caused a strong reaction among the Ukrainian audience and turned into a satirical flashmob.

One of the many jokes about Max Korzh with a non-existent quote attributed to him, which appeared on Ukrainian social networks
Serhii Sternenko, known for his sharp media campaigns against pro-Russian and apolitical celebrities, initially published a concise post "Max Korzh", and added a handshake emoji to these words.

This immediately provoked an avalanche of comments, where users began to ironize, as if the artist had secretly transferred all his fees to Ukrainian military funds. And a few hours later, Sternenko added more fuel to the fire, publishing the following: "Yes, he really helped the Ukrainian army."

At Sternenko's instigation, jokes, memes, and messages began to appear en masse on the internet, claiming that the singer had allegedly transferred money to support the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Some users even named alleged donation amounts and referred to "confirmations," although there was no official evidence or statements from Korzh himself about such donations.
Over time, some users concluded that it was just trolling or a peculiar social experiment that showed how quickly unverified information can spread on social networks.
The impetus for this peculiar flashmob was given by Max Korzh's recent concert in Istanbul. During the performance in the fan zone, people with flags of Ukraine, Russia, Belarus, and other countries were seen, as well as with the slogan "F*ck politics". This caused a sharp reaction on the internet: some considered it a call not to mix music and politics, while others criticized such gestures in the context of war.
Max Korzh's own position regarding the war in Ukraine has repeatedly caused controversy. After the start of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, he spoke out against the war and called for an end to violence, however, some Ukrainian public believes that his position is not clear enough, as he does not make regular political statements and continues to perform for Russian-speaking audiences in various countries.
Before this, a similar flashmob in Ukrainian social networks caused significant problems for Ukrainian singer Ani Lorak, who, after the start of Russia's full-scale war against Ukraine and the need to determine her sympathies, chose the Russian side and continued to earn money by performing in Russia.
When rumors began to spread on Ukrainian social networks about Lorak's alleged financial support for the Ukrainian army, some Russian users took them as truth.
Against this background, Russian state bodies began an investigation into the performer, and her concerts were canceled in several cities. Authorities and part of the public in Russia accused the singer of an allegedly insufficiently clear position regarding the war in Ukraine. At the same time, no public evidence was presented that Ani Lorak actually transferred money to support the Armed Forces of Ukraine — this was simply made up.
