"Maybe you should fix the trains?" Belarusians complain about Stadler breakdowns after their return to routes

Two breakdowns in one day

One such incident was recounted to the "Shtodzen" publication by a resident of Gomel, who encountered two malfunctions in one day during a trip between Gomel and Minsk.

According to the passenger, on the morning of June 8, he was traveling on the Gomel — Minsk train, departing at 04:41 and arriving in the capital at 07:53.

However, passengers did not reach their final destination on time.

"We reached Osipovichi — the train broke down there. We were transferred to economy class, and we arrived in Minsk approximately an hour and a half later," he said.

The problems did not end there.

On the same day, the man was returning from Minsk on a train that departed at 14:57. According to him, during the journey, the train repeatedly sharply reduced speed.

"The train periodically slowed down to 19 kilometers per hour along the entire route, sometimes stopping completely. Then a delay was announced due to technical reasons. We arrived in Gomel 45 minutes late," the passenger reported.

As a result, the total delay in one day amounted to more than two hours.

Passengers discuss the operation of "Stadlers"

According to the Gomel resident, in Minsk, he heard from other people that similar incidents have not been isolated recently.

"Maybe you should fix the trains, instead of writing about how many new, cool, and modern 'Stadlers' you've launched," he addressed the Belarusian Railway.

In the comments, opinions were divided. Some users are happy about the return of high-speed electric trains after a long absence on the routes.

Others note that they don't see a significant difference between "Stadler" and regular electric trains, but the cost of tickets for the more modern rolling stock is higher.

Where did the problems come from?

Massive problems with Stadler trains began to be discussed several years ago. After the introduction of sanctions against the Belarusian state carrier, difficulties arose with the supply of necessary components and the maintenance of part of the rolling stock.

As a result, some modern electric trains are periodically taken out of service for repairs, and older trains are put on routes. For passengers, this means longer travel times and less comfortable travel conditions.

At the same time, the Belarusian Railway usually reports on "scheduled repairs" and does not disclose the extent of technical problems.
