While America is captivated by watching the World Cup with the star-spangled flag, sensational transfer market news comes precisely from the United States: Ronaldinho begins a new stage in Serie C and will sign an agreement with Ignazio Cipriani's ambitious "Ravenna". This is a truly significant move, which will be officially announced at a major event in Miami on June 23, writes Gazetta dello Sport.
"New colors, the same smile," says the Brazilian footballer. "I look forward to the opportunity to dance with the ball again and write a new history with Ignazio and the entire Cipriani family. Football has always been a source of joy for me, and I want to bring that same spirit to Ravenna."
After the team from Romagna almost reached the third league last season, it approaches the new championship not only with great ambitions, but also with a player who has entered the history of football and, despite being 46 years old, is ready to contribute on the field.
The team has never played in Serie A, and its best achievement was eighth place in Serie B in the 1996/1997 season.
In Serie C, teams are divided into three sub-divisions. "Ravenna" finished third in its group and advanced to the playoffs, which start from the round of 1/8 finals. The club defeated "Cittadella" at this stage, but lost to "Salernitana" in the 1/4 finals.
Ronaldinho played for "Grêmio", "PSG", "Barcelona", "Milan", "Flamengo", and ended his career at "Fluminense" in 2015.
