Grybauskaitė: If Russians don't change, it's better to have an Iron Curtain
The former President of Lithuania stated in an interview with the Polish TV channel TVP World that what surprised her most in 2022 was "Russia's stupidity," writes Delfi.lt.

"They have a huge territory that they don't need. Just for the sake of humiliating people and making Ukrainians enemies forever? To form such a strong national self-awareness in Ukrainians that didn't exist before? Now they will become enemies for centuries," she said.
The former president also noted that she was surprised by the West's reaction — how cowardly and scared it turned out to be, as well as the deficit of leadership.
When asked by TVP World if Russia would ever change, Grybauskaitė replied that she dreams of it.
"Now the residents of Russia face the same danger as us: they are massively thrown into prisons, they cannot freely express their opinions, human rights are now even more restricted than during Stalin's time... Will Russia change? I don't know, it's difficult to speculate about that... If they cannot change, it will be better for us if an Iron Curtain appears between us," she emphasized.
Grybauskaitė was also asked about her meeting with Vladimir Putin in Helsinki in 2010. She said that at that time, the issue of gas prices was particularly relevant for Lithuania.
"It was clear that it was about obedience and concessions. We were presented with a list of what Lithuania should do. There was a clear attitude towards neighboring countries: either you kneel, or you are an enemy — there is no third option. Naturally, I could not accept these demands," the former president noted.
According to her, after that meeting, she understood that Lithuania must get rid of its energy dependence on Russia.
