Minsk Botanical Garden to Host Evening Tours of Hydrangea Collection
The Central Botanical Garden of Minsk invites residents and guests of the capital to evening excursions dedicated to its hydrangea collection. The events will take place on August 6 and 7 — a period when these plants are at their peak bloom.
During the excursions, visitors will be able to see dozens of hydrangea varieties, learn about the specifics of their cultivation, care, and preparation of bushes for winter.
The Botanical Garden's collection features four main types of hydrangeas: tree-like (smooth hydrangea), which is well-adapted to Belarusian climatic conditions, the impressive panicle hydrangea, as well as bigleaf hydrangea and serrata hydrangea varieties.
Garden staff will share the history of the collection's creation, the characteristics of different varieties, and provide tips on plant care.
Organizers note that the color of some hydrangea flowers can change depending on the soil composition. In an acidic environment, petals may acquire blue hues, while in neutral or slightly alkaline soil, they become pink or lilac.
The excursions will last approximately 50 minutes and begin at 18:00 (6 PM) at the central entrance to the Botanical Garden.
The cost of participation is 3 rubles for a full ticket and 2 rubles for a concession ticket. Entrance to the garden territory is paid separately. No pre-registration is required.
