Forest fire in Zhytkavichy district being extinguished for the second day

A strong forest fire has been extinguished in the Zhytkavichy district since yesterday. According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations, on August 4, a Mi-8 helicopter from the MES aviation was additionally brought in for the operations.

In two days, MES helicopters performed 115 water drops with a total volume of about 290 tons. Their total flight time was 19 hours.

Currently, aviation has already completed its work at the fire site. Further monitoring of the territory and soaking individual hot spots will be carried out by ground units until the fire is completely extinguished.

On August 3, the MES reported that the fire had been localized. At that time, its area was about five hectares, and the helicopter dropped 54 tons of water on the fire in 18 sorties.
