Belarusian security forces have stopped the activities of a group which, according to data from the Ministry of Internal Affairs press service, organized a channel for illegal migration through the country's territory. The operation was carried out by officers of the 5th Department of GUBOPiK for Minsk with the support of OMON fighters.
According to investigative materials, four individuals from the Middle East, aged 19 to 29, participated in the scheme. It is alleged that they had no registration in Belarus and were not officially employed.
According to the security forces, over two years, the defendants organized the illegal movement of citizens from South Asian countries from Russia to Belarus. For this, they used personal cars to transport people to Minsk. If necessary, it is alleged, illegal border crossings were organized outside official checkpoints — through forest areas and a river.
According to case materials, in May and June of this year, this group organized the illegal entry and stay in Minsk of at least 19 citizens of Afghanistan. For their services, according to the investigation, the suspects charged from 150 to 400 dollars per trip.
Investigators have opened a criminal case. The detainees have been taken into custody as a measure of restraint.
