In Belarus, a list of dog breeds is being prepared, whose owners will bear increased responsibility for their pets. This was announced by Nadezhda Sevruk, Deputy Head of the Housing and Utilities Management Department of the Ministry of Housing and Communal Services, writes BelTA.
An interdepartmental working group has been created to prepare the list, which includes representatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Ministry of Agriculture and Food, the professional community, and public and animal welfare organizations.
The initial draft of the list has already been reviewed and shortened. It is proposed to include breeds that are distinguished by particularly large sizes or aggressiveness, associated with the physiological and psychological characteristics of the breed.
Some breeds caused discussions, however, the participants of the working group managed to develop an agreed position.
Currently, the draft list has been sent to state bodies for review. It is expected that it will be approved in the near future, after which the list will be published in open access, including on the National Legal Internet Portal.
