A bus carrying Belarus’ national women’s basketball team collided with a car on Sunday morning, but no one was injured.
The accident occurred at approximately 9:30 a.m. on the Minsk—Hrodna highway some 100 kilometers west of the Belarusian capital city, Aliaksandra Pushkina, spokesperson for the Belarusian Basketball Federation, told BelaPAN.
According to Ms. Pushkina, the team were traveling to Druskininkai, Lithuania, where they are to have training camp before European championship qualifying games.
The bus driver tried to but could not avoid the collision with the car, which had crossed into the opposite lane, Ms. Pushkina said.
“Luckily, everyone escaped with fright only, but the bus was seriously damaged and could not be driven,” she said. “The team loaded themselves onto another coach within two hours and continued their journey.”
