Lukashenka Sends Ex-Minister of Culture to France to Study Socialist Party

Aliaksandr Lukashenka does not rule out a possibility of establishing a party similar to the French Socialist Party in Belarus. The head of state made this statement when appointing Paval Latushka Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to France on 16 November.

“France is also interesting for us from the point of view of the victory of the Socialist Party. Francois Hollande, the head of the Socialist Party, is a more pragmatic and down-to-earth person I hope. At least the early months of his presidency say so, with all the disadvantages that exist there,” BelTA quotes Aliaksandr Lukashenka as saying.

Therefore, your task is to study the activities of the Socialist Party. Perhaps we might set up such a party here. Not that formal party of socialism that we once had but the Party of Socialism that gives man the opportunity for self-realization, the party hat does not oppose private property.

“I think such a party could do much good, based on negative and positive experiences of the past years in the Soviet Union. As for other areas of cooperation, in terms of economy, you are well familiar with them. We are ready to make as much progress as they are willing, of course,” Lukashenka said addressing Paval Latushka.

As it was reported previously, Lukashenka made another top reshuffle today: he appointed the new heads of the KGB and the Investigative Committee. He also dismissed Paval Latushka from his position of the Minister of Culture and appointed him the new Ambassador to France.
