Young Front activist Zmicier Kamianiecki who was arrested yesterday is going to be tried.
Zmicier Kamianiecki, the activist of youth organisation Young Front who was detained on September 20, will be tried today in Minsk, BelaPAN says.
“First, we did not know he was detained. Then deputy Chairperson of Young Front Mikalaj Dziemidzienka started receiving messages sent from Zmicier Kamianiecki’s phone which proposed him to meet at an underground station. Such messages are not common for Zmicier, so we became anxious and called to police stations. We found Zmicier Kramianiecki at one of them,”Human rights activist Nasta Lojka says.
It is still unknown what precisely Zmicier Kamianiecki is accused of. However, he is said to be charged with a violation of the administrative law.
Deputy Chairperson of Young Front Nasta Palazhanka says the activists are being detained before the parliamentary elections which are to be held on September 23 to avoid protest actions even in spite there were no plans to perform any on the main polling day.
Previously, three activists of Zmiena civil movement were sentenced to short terms in jail.
