Under an optimistic scenario Belarus might join the WTO in two years, Deputy Foreign Minister of Belarus Aliaksandr Hurjanau told reporters on September 26.
Belarus does not consider negative scenarios of the WTO accession, Aliaksandr Hurjanau said. Belarus’ position can be described as “cautious optimism.”
“I will be a cautious optimist and say that an optimistic scenario envisages two years and we do not consider a negative scenario,” he said. Talking about the estimated time of Belarus’ accession to the WTO, he mentioned a short-term perspective. A session of the Working Party on Belarus' Accession to the WTO is scheduled for November 2012.
