Aliaksandr Lukashenka noted in an interview with international TV channel Mir that he was impressed by Mikheil Saakashvili admitting that his party lost the parliamentary elections in Georgia, RFE/RL reports.
He told reporters he “did not expect anything of the kind from Saakashvili.”
“He literally overcame himself,” Lukashenka added.
“I want to say he is a great man. To admit you’ve lost while you are sure you’ll be supported by everyone until the final moment — it is worth a lot,” Lukashenka concluded. Belarusian President also highlighted that such a step had been deeply appreciated by all foreign observers, including Russia.
