Belarus is working to include Babka and Draniki in UNESCO's cultural heritage list
Belarus aims to enhance its tourist appeal at the international level. In this regard, a dossier titled "Dishes from Grated Potatoes" is currently being prepared to include them in the UNESCO List of Intangible Cultural Heritage. This was reported during a press conference by Iryna Dashchynskaya, Head of the Department for the Protection of Historical and Cultural Heritage of the Ministry of Culture.

According to the official, Belarusian specialists are currently working on a national dossier titled "Dishes from Grated Potatoes, Traditions of Preparation and Consumption in Belarus".
She also noted that as of today, Belarus is already represented in UNESCO with four tangible cultural heritage sites and seven intangible ones.
Iryna Dashchynskaya emphasized that the presence of sites on the World Heritage List elevates their status, making them and the entire country more known and appealing to tourists.
As noted by the Ministry of Culture employee, the preservation of historical and cultural heritage is necessary for the sustainable development of the country and strengthening its image in the world.
Another contender for inclusion in the UNESCO list, according to her, could be the Belarusian malyavanka. These painted carpets traditionally adorned the walls in peasant homes.
