Police detained the very same Russian tourist who threw a cigarette butt on the street. Court tomorrow
The story with the cigarette butt became widely known because a young Belarusian musician made a remark to the man about him littering, and in response received obscene insults.

Police identified the Russian who threw the cigarette butt, using video.
The young man was walking along Nyamiha, one of the central streets of Minsk, with his mother. He threw a cigarette butt exactly where utility workers had just cleaned. The Belarusian made a remark to him—in response, he heard aggression and Russian swear words.
On July 5, the press service of the Minsk police reported that as a result of operational-search activities, law enforcement officers identified the identity of this guest of the capital and detained him. He turned out to be an 18-year-old Russian. As the young man explained to law enforcement, he and his mother came to visit relatives in Minsk and were out walking.
Administrative protocols were drawn up against the young man—the court will consider his case on Monday, July 6.
Identification of people is now possible because the city is covered by a dense video surveillance system with facial identification.
