The Kremlin reacted to Volodymyr Zelenskyy's proposal to meet in Kostiantynivka, a city over which the Russian side claimed "full control" the day before. Putin's press secretary Dmitry Peskov stated that the Russian leader is ready for a meeting, but exclusively on his own territory — in Moscow, not in a frontline zone.

Commenting on the Ukrainian leader's initiative, Peskov noted that Russia welcomes Zelenskyy's readiness to come, but the meeting place should be the Russian capital.
"Still, the capital of the Russian Federation is Moscow, not Kostiantynivka. Therefore, he can come to Moscow as soon as he is ready to make important responsible decisions," said the Russian president's press secretary.
As we wrote earlier, Volodymyr Zelenskyy offered Putin to meet in Kostiantynivka in response to statements by the Russian side about the alleged capture of this city.
The President of Ukraine emphasized that if the settlement were indeed under Russia's control, Putin would be able to come there to seek diplomatic solutions to end the war.
"But he still does not cross the frontline: the truth is very different from Putin's words," Zelenskyy noted, calling the statements about the capture "another Russian lie."
The day before, Russia announced establishing control over Kostiantynivka in the Donetsk region. The General Staff of Ukraine refutes these claims.
