Residents of a Lithuanian village are shocked: owners left for Belarus and left a dog chained up in the frost
«The neighbor tried to contact the owners. According to her, they don't care about the fate of the dog and cat. They supposedly said: do what you want.»

Vilnius shelter «Rasų Globa» shared a horrific story about a dog left to its fate. The shelter told Delfi reported that a woman called them and asked to save the chained animal from cold and hunger.
«An concerned neighbor called us. The owners left and abandoned the dog to its fate. Alone. Without food or water,» — reported the shelter representatives.

Volunteers went to pick up the dog named Ramunė. What they saw shocked them.
«We saw that the chain was so twisted that the dog couldn't move properly. It's cold, winter is outside, and he can't even get into the kennel...» — shared the shelter workers.
The neighbors fed the dog. This time, the story ended well.
Now she is safe. They are looking for new owners for the dog. «Thanks to the neighbor for not remaining indifferent,» — thanked the shelter.
Delfi contacted the director of the shelter, Miglė Bumbulytė. She said that the dog was taken from Skaidiškės (a village near Vilnius).
The neighbor told the shelter workers that the dog's owners often travel to Belarus, leaving the animal alone.
«The owners left for Belarus. According to the woman, they return from there after a few months. But this time they left during the coldest weather, and the dog's fate was completely unclear... In the harshest frosts... The neighbors fed the dog. There was also a cat. It was taken in by the neighbor who informed us about the dog. Some neighbors tried to put some foam in the kennel, but no one saw that the chain was so twisted that the dog couldn't get into the kennel,» — Bumbulytė said.
When asked if there had been attempts to contact the owners, she replied that the animals' fate did not particularly concern them.
«The neighbor tried to contact them. According to her, they don't care about the fate of the dog and cat. They supposedly said: do what you want,» — said Bumbulytė.
The dog was examined by a veterinarian, blood tests were taken, X-rays were done — the animal is healthy.
«Her teeth are good; according to the doctors, the dog is 1.5–2 years old. Now, only sterilization, vaccinations, and microchipping remain; then we will look for a new home for her. The dog is very kind,» — said the head of the shelter.
