«We received the invitation, and diplomats are working on it. But Russia is our enemy, Belarus is their ally; it is difficult to imagine how we and the Russian Federation can be together in one council or another,» RBC-Ukraine reports Zelensky's words.
He also noted that, in general, this does not specifically concern this council; simply, Russia is about a council of war, and Belarus is now with it.
«I will tell you frankly, we need to survive. We are fighting for our independence, for our freedom, for our existence. In this struggle, we need any help,» he added.
On January 15, Trump announced the creation of a Peace Council to oversee post-war governance in Gaza. Membership in the organization is for three years, however, countries that contribute $1 billion in cash during the first year will be able to hold their seats indefinitely.
Donald Trump sent official invitations to world leaders regarding participation in the work of the Peace Council on the Gaza Strip. Among them are Russia, Belarus, China.
The US President wants the signing ceremony to take place in Davos on Thursday, January 22, despite calls from some of the invited parties to review the terms of the commission's work.
