Gold price approaches $5000 for the first time in history

On Friday, the price of gold approached the $5,000 per ounce level, according to exchange trading data.

At 10:00 Minsk time, gold was trading at $4966 per ounce. Then a decline began, and as of 11:00, the price is $4942.

This week on Tuesday, gold futures for February 2026 delivery first surpassed the $4.7 thousand per troy ounce level, then $4800 and $4900.

According to analysts, gold continues to rise in price amid growing demand for assets in the context of the situation around Greenland.

In 2025, gold showed the largest growth in over 60 years — its value increased by 64%.
