The hospital explained the termination of employment relations with Russians and Belarusians by the requirements of the national security law, which prohibits citizens of Russia and Belarus from owning and managing critical infrastructure facilities, holding positions in the management structures of such facilities, as well as being employed or providing services there, writes "Current Time" with reference to LETA.
Among those dismissed were middle and junior medical staff — 29 employees, 11 of whom were of retirement age. The remaining 20 were economic service employees. A re-check is being conducted on seven more medical professionals at the hospital, and a request has been sent to the State Security Service of Latvia.
The Ministry of Health of Latvia, when asked whether similar dismissals could occur in other hospitals, stated that "the requirements of the law are the same for everyone."
