Wolfgang Heichel, vocalist and one of the founders of the famous German disco group Dschinghis Khan, has passed away. The musician died at the age of 75.

According to a message from the musician's representatives on Instagram, Heichel unexpectedly died at his home on January 20. Even though he had significant health problems in recent years, his death, which came after a temporary improvement in his condition, was a complete surprise to his family, friends, and colleagues.
According to information from the Bild publication, before his death, Heichel spent most of his time near Lake Constance. According to the publication's sources, his funeral took place on February 11, attended only by the singer's close friends and relatives.
The group Dschinghis Khan was founded in 1979 in West Germany by German producer and composer Ralph Siegel to participate in the Eurovision Song Contest. Wolfgang Heichel became the main vocalist of its original lineup.
At Eurovision, the group then took fourth place with the song Dschinghis Khan. Among the group's subsequent big hits are Moskau, Rocking son of Dschinghis Khan, and Loreley.
