In the Verkhnyadzvinsk district, a man caught three martens in traps
A resident of the Verkhnyadzvinsk district will be tried for illegal hunting. According to information from the Investigative Committee, a 50-year-old man illegally hunted three martens.

In December 2025, he set four traps near the village of Novoye Selo: three for martens and one for a beaver or otter. The man did not have the status of a hunter or the necessary permits.
During the first check of the traps, he found two martens in them, removed their skins, and took the catch home. During the next round, another marten was found in a trap.
The man put the animal's carcass in his backpack and headed to the river to check the fourth trap. At that moment, he was noticed by employees of the Inspectorate for the Protection of Animal and Plant Life.
The investigation revealed that the accused hunted without permission and checked the traps at night, which is prohibited when hunting without a firearm. During interrogation, he said that he did not expect to meet other people in the forest.
The damage caused to the environment was estimated at more than 4400 rubles. The man fully compensated for it.
