Construction of the ring (fourth) metro line is planned to start this year. Alexander Chernikov, Deputy Chairman of the Minsk City Executive Committee, announced this on April 2 during a meeting with the staff of "Trest Minpromstroy", Minsk-News reports.
"As for the northern part of the line, its contours have already been determined, while the southern part is still being calculated. As before, construction is planned to proceed in several stages, which will be implemented sequentially.
It is planned that the first section will go from Bangalore Square towards Kharkovskaya Street," the Deputy Chairman of the Minsk City Executive Committee clarified.
— According to expert estimates, the construction of the fourth line at a calm pace would take decades, but the task has been set to accelerate its construction by approximately two times."
Chernikov paid special attention to the construction of new stations of the Zelenaluzhskaya (third) metro line — "Park Druzhby Narodov", "Komarovskaya" and "Perespa".
For their construction, the mechanized tunneling complex "Alesya" was launched in June 2025. In addition, another such complex, but of Chinese, not French, production, named "Maria", was delivered to the capital recently. Its assembly is currently underway, after which it will begin tunneling from "Park Druzhby Narodov" to "Yubileynaya" station. By the way, such equipment is capable of covering at least 250 meters per month.
"Since January 2026, engineering preparation of the territory near the "Yubileynaya" hotel has been underway. On Pobediteley Avenue — from Melnikaite Street to Masherov Avenue — the number of traffic lanes has been reduced: from three to two in each direction. Work is currently being carried out to strengthen the collector, next to which the tunnels of the third line will be laid. This is necessary to ensure its bearing capacity and watertightness, eliminating the risk of accidents in the future," explained the Deputy Chairman of the Minsk City Executive Committee.
Also, a section of the Svisloch river nearby has been fenced off. A tunnel will pass there, but it will have to be lowered into dense and stable soil layers — 6-8 meters below the riverbed zone. There is no need to worry about the safety of such a structure, as high-precision tunneling will be used, which is considered watertight.
