On April 11, after a prolonged illness, Ihar Tsitkouski, a Belarusian local historian, archivist, architectural historian, and graphic artist, author of books on the history and art of Sluchchyna (Slutsk region), passed away. He was 70 years old.

Ihar Tsitkouski was born on February 20, 1956, in Asipovichy. He spent his childhood and school years first in his hometown, and from 1967 – in Slutsk, where his family moved.
From an early age, Tsitkouski was interested in art and studied at an art studio at the Slutsk House of Pioneers. After school, he studied at the art and graphics department of the Vitebsk Pedagogical Institute, graduating in 1978.
Professionally, he worked as a teacher at the Slutsk Children's Art School and was its director for some time. In parallel, he engaged in creative work and local history, participated in art exhibitions, and his works are preserved in museums and private collections.

Since the 1980s, Tsitkouski actively studied the history and culture of Sluchchyna. He published articles in newspapers and magazines, and also became the author of a number of popular science and local history books about Slutsk and the region: "Architectural Monuments of Slutsk" (1997), "Churches of the City of Slutsk. Past and Present" (2003), "Sluchchyna. Rulers of the Land. X-XIX Centuries" (2006), "Artists of Sluchchyna" (2006), "Slutsk. History of the City in Architectural Monuments" (2015), "Art of Sluchchyna: History, Names, Works" (2019).
He paid special attention to the study of architectural monuments and the reconstruction of the city's historical appearance based on archival materials and archaeological data.
