Freight train with chemicals derailed in Lithuania. This is the second incident in recent days
In Lithuania, near Kaunas, a freight train with chemicals derailed . This is the second such incident in two days. At night, a locomotive and wagons from Germany derailed. Authorities state that there were no casualties or leaks of dangerous substances.

Due to the accident, trains heading south of the country — towards Marijampolė and Kybartai — were stopped for a long time.
In connection with this incident, Belarusian Railways announced delays for several trains operating through the territory of Belarus to and from Russian Kaliningrad.
Delays affect the following trains:
- No. 360 Kaliningrad — Adler;
- No. 148 Kaliningrad — Moscow;
- No. 147 Moscow — Kaliningrad;
- No. 79 Saint Petersburg — Kaliningrad;
- No. 29 Moscow — Kaliningrad.
It is reported that delays on Belarusian Railways range approximately from 30 minutes to 5 hours.
In addition, some wagons from train No. 148 Kaliningrad — Moscow, which were part of the Minsk — Moscow route, will travel as a separate train No. 248 Minsk — Moscow on May 3. It departs from Minsk at 9:49 and arrives in Moscow at 19:44.
The previous similar accident occurred in Lithuania on the morning of May 1 at Gudžiūnai railway station in Kėdainiai district. Three wagons with crushed stone derailed at that time. The wagons overturned, and the cargo spilled. No one was injured in the incident, but it affected 18 trains and about 3000 passengers traveling towards Šiauliai and Klaipėda.
