Valentin Rybakov, Permanent Representative of Belarus to the UN, yesterday at a meeting of the UN Security Council dedicated to the attack on a Belarusian bus in Russia's Bryansk region, named the type of drone used. According to him, it was a Ukrainian-made UAV, writes Reform.news.
"Today we have evidence to responsibly state: the attack on the Belarusian bus was carried out by a Ukrainian-made strike UAV. This UAV belongs to the Darts type and is equipped with destructive elements. It has a warhead with an explosive mass of about 1200 g in TNT equivalent," he said.
Rybakov noted that items with markings in the Ukrainian language were seized at the scene of the incident.
"During the inspection of the scene, items with markings in the Ukrainian language were seized. Among them is a detonator control unit manufactured at a factory in Shostka, Sumy region. The detonator itself, as well as the battery, are components manufactured in Ukraine," he said.
However, the Permanent Representative of Belarus did not state who exactly attacked the bus.
He condemned the strike, calling it a provocation aimed at escalating the conflict and drawing Belarus into the armed conflict between Russia and Ukraine. Rybakov stressed that the absence of a swift and firm reaction from Minsk should not be interpreted as a sign of weakness, indecision, or cowardice.
The incident with the Belarusian bus occurred on June 17 in the Bryansk region.
At that time, a bus carrying children from the football team of Children's and Youth Sports School No. 2 of Rechytsa, as well as students of a private dance studio, was damaged. Russian authorities claimed that the strike was allegedly carried out by a Ukrainian drone.
As a result of the incident, a woman who was accompanying the group of children and was the wife of the team's coach died. Eight more people, including six children, sustained injuries of varying severity. All of them were immediately transported to Belarus.
