Mogilev traffic police ordered to disable timers on city traffic lights, reported the state TV and radio company "Mogilev". The reason given is that the timers allegedly create problems for pedestrians and drivers and increase the possibility of accidents, causing a "last second effect".

Now the timers on traffic lights are disabled throughout Mogilev, and this is how they justify it:
«Drivers, seeing that there is one second left until the signal changes, start to accelerate to pass the intersection. Pedestrians, on the other hand, run out onto the roadway when there are 2-3 seconds left until the red light. The State Automobile Inspectorate asks road users to understand this measure, as it is designed to increase your safety,» reported Alina Shvedava, inspector of the agitation and propaganda department of the Mogilev Regional Executive Committee's Department of Internal Affairs' State Automobile Inspectorate.
