In June 2024, a homeless Belarusian man, Aliaksandr Hatsitski (born in Minsk, but registered in Niasvizh district), killed his drinking buddy.

Hatsitski and Russian Aliaksandr Krasnikau lived in the basement of one of the houses in Podolsk, a city in the Moscow Region. One day they handed in bottles and used the money to buy moonshine. After drinking, they had a quarrel. First, they insulted each other, then it escalated into a fight.

Hatsitski took a bottle and hit Krasnikau on the head with it. The bottle didn't break, so he threw it into the bushes. After that, he punched Krasnikau in the eye, causing him to fall. He then kicked his friend, who was lying on his back, several times in the chest and torso. Krasnikau never got up again.

Then the Belarusian fell asleep. When he woke up, Krasnikau was still lying in the same spot. Hatsitski went to the dump to look for food, then went about his business, and only later learned from acquaintances that Krasnikau had died.

In court, Hatsitski pleaded not guilty, claiming that he was sleeping in the basement at the time of the crime and that he gave incriminating testimony during the investigation under duress.

Witnesses, also homeless people, had to be heard. They testified that they were looking for bottles and saw a drunk Hatsitski and Krasnikau lying nearby. Krasnikau was snoring loudly, and blood was flowing from his head.

Verdict Hatsitski was sentenced to 7 years in a strict regime colony. They intend to recover approximately $8000 from him, although there is no source from which to take it.
