Tourist complex in Lepel district set prices for Belarusians almost twice as high as for Russians. Belarusians were outraged
At the tourist complex and guesthouse «Vostraŭ LADE» (Island LADE), located on Lake Lepel in the Vitebsk region, a strange difference in accommodation prices for citizens of Belarus and Russia was observed, writes BG.Media.
One of the complex's regular customers noticed that when booking a suite for two nights for four people, the website showed Belarusians a price of 1216 rubles. For Russian citizens, the same option was displayed at a price of 18,140 Russian rubles, which was approximately 650 Belarusian rubles — almost twice cheaper.
The situation caused outrage on social media. Users questioned why Belarusian citizens should pay significantly more for a vacation in their own country. Some suggested it might have been a technical error, while others proposed contacting the Ministry of Trade for verification.
The administration of «Vostraŭ LADE» (Island LADE) explained the situation as a technical glitch in the new booking system. According to representatives of the complex, Russian citizens might indeed have been shown an incorrect amount initially — the cost for only one night instead of two. Upon direct transition to booking, the system already showed the correct price — 36,140 Russian rubles for two nights.
The administration apologized and announced that developers are working on fixing the error. While the problem is being resolved, customers were offered to book their stay by phone.
Journalists later re-checked the prices on the complex's website. Following the online outcry, the information changed, and the initial price difference for Belarusians and Russians disappeared.
