Lukashenka on the appointment of General Muraveika: "This is my personal choice, I need an alternative view on security forces"
Lukashenka explained the appointment of the former Chief of the General Staff as Deputy Head of his Administration.

Commenting on the personnel reshuffle, Lukashenka spoke about possible speculations surrounding this decision, writes BelTA.
"There will be a lot of speculation, certain statements, and so on: 'Lukashenka succumbed to the security forces, appointed the former Chief of the General Staff to the President's Administration. This is connected with the strengthening of some security component,'" Lukashenka said.
"If it's beneficial for someone to say and speculate that way, please do. I am absolutely not against it. But the fact that this component – the security sector and direction of our country – is being strengthened is natural. Because we see what is happening around our country. For me, as president and commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces, it is very important to have several, if you will, alternative points of view on the situation in our security units," Lukashenka noted.
He added that rumors about allegedly biased promotion might appear in connection with this appointment.
Lukashenka also said that he himself proposed Muraveika's candidacy for the Administration.
"If someone says that he is almost the president's own brother, they are mistaken, because I practically didn't even know you before you became Chief of the General Staff. And I generally don't have such approaches – 'friend or foe'. Everyone sitting at this table is not a stranger to me. You have passed a serious test, a journey with me," he emphasized.
