Cup with 'Army of Russia' inscription found in office of 'Alternative for Germany' politician
Hans-Thomas Tillschneider, deputy head of the "Alternative for Germany" (AfD) in Saxony-Anhalt, attempted through a lawyer to ban the publication of photos from his office, where journalists noticed a cup with Russian military symbols. The black cup featured a red star and the inscription "Army of Russia".

“This cup just stands here. I don't attach much importance to it. Someone gave it to me a while ago. Enough about this silly cup,” Tillschneider told BILD in a comment.
According to BILD, such a cup is sold by the Russian military brand "Army of Russia," which lists the Russian Ministry of Defense among its official partners. Tillschneider, however, denies that he is thereby expressing support for the Russian army.
The politician is considered part of the AfD's most pro-Russian wing. After the start of the full-scale war, he traveled to Russia but interrupted his trip after criticism within the party. In October 2025, Tillschneider also participated in an event at the Russian Embassy in Berlin to mark Vladimir Putin's birthday.
