Fled from the police, stole a gate and went to fight: a serial thief from Babruysk lost a leg in the «SVO»
Leonid Logvin, a native of Babruysk, whom Belarusian law enforcement had declared wanted for theft almost two decades ago, went to fight against Ukraine as part of the Russian army. After a severe injury and leg amputation, the mercenary arrived for rehabilitation at a Belarusian state sanatorium.
The 55-year-old Babruysk native is currently undergoing rehabilitation at the «Viazuty» sanatorium in the Maladzyechna district, which is subordinated to the Ministry of Labour of Belarus. This institution specializes in the rehabilitation of people with musculoskeletal disorders, and the occupation fund «Defenders of the Fatherland» sends wounded Russian military personnel there.
Logvin himself willingly told Russian propagandists about his stay in the Belarusian sanatorium, posing against the backdrop of the complex's buildings.
The criminal biography of the Babruysk resident began long before the full-scale invasion. In August 2007, a criminal case for theft (Part 2, Article 205 of the Criminal Code of Belarus) was initiated against him in Babruysk, but the man violated his pledge not to leave and fled, after which he was declared internationally wanted. Logvin settled in Ukraine, where he lived for years without registration in Donbas and the south of the country. There, he also managed to get noticed by the police: in 2013, his wife filed a complaint about his night-time disturbance in Kharkiv region.
But the most curious incident occurred in 2019 in the Kramatorsk district. Leanid stole a metal garage gate from an acquaintance with whom he was lodging, and then tried to sell the stolen item to the same owner, for which he received 100 hours of community service.
The Belarusian was married to the well-known collaborator Vera Logvin, who, after the 2022 occupation, headed the captured village of Fedorivka in Kherson region and gained notoriety for demonstratively tearing up her Ukrainian passport on camera.
Leanid voluntarily signed a contract with the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation in the autumn of 2024.
He did not last long on the front: by the summer of 2025, his leg was amputated.
Russian propaganda made Logvin a «SVO veteran»; the occupation authorities, as social assistance, cleared his yard of dry branches, after which the injured mercenary was sent to recover his health in his homeland, where law enforcement once searched for him.
