US President Donald Trump banned CNN journalists from accompanying him aboard presidential plane Air Force One during a trip to Tennessee. The TV channel was supposed to work as part of a television group of journalists and cover Trump's visit to Knoxville, where the president planned to attend a college football match. The White House, without explaining the reasons, revoked CNN's accreditation for this flight.
For many years, CNN was part of the rotation of the five largest American TV channels, whose representatives had the opportunity to fly with the president and cover his trips. Now, instead of CNN, the White House has included the conservative TV channel Real America's Voice in the journalistic pool.
This occurred amid a conflict between the Trump administration and CNN, Politico, and MS NOW. Trump accused these media outlets of spreading "fake news", and earlier ordered to strip them of permanent access to the White House. Last week, Secret Service agents prevented journalists from the three publications from entering the White House grounds and confiscated their press passes.
Later, a federal judge in Washington temporarily lifted the ban on journalists' access, but his decision specifically concerned the White House. Lawyer Eli Honig told CNN that denying access to Air Force One could contradict the "spirit" of that court ruling. In his opinion, the TV channel's lawyers might appeal to the court again.
