Bloomberg: Trump offered Zelenskyy to meet with Putin in Moscow
U.S. President Donald Trump, during a meeting with Volodymyr Zelenskyy on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly, proposed to the Ukrainian president to hold a meeting with Vladimir Putin in Moscow. Bloomberg reported this on September 25, citing its sources.
According to agency sources, Zelenskyy rejected Trump's proposal. It reportedly caused dissatisfaction for the Ukrainian president.
However, soon after, Financial Times correspondent Christopher Miller disputed this information:
"Officials in Volodymyr Zelenskyy's office, including those present at the meeting, inform me that this did not happen; during their meeting at the UN, Trump did not urge the Ukrainian president to meet with Putin in Moscow. The leaders of the two countries discussed potential future tripartite negotiations, but what is described in the [Bloomberg] article did not occur."
"This is untrue information," later told journalists by Dmytro Lytvyn, an adviser to the Ukrainian president.
Earlier, Putin had already stated his readiness to host Zelenskyy in Moscow. Zelenskyy, in response, called such invitations "games" and proposed holding a meeting in a neutral country. Among possible locations, he named Switzerland and Turkey.
On September 23, responding to questions from Russian propagandists about when he would come to Moscow, Zelenskyy said he could arrive "on a rocket."
