The representatives of Russian tycoon Mikhail Gutseriyev disown he suggested Aliaksandr Lukashenka $5bln kickback for selling Belarusian potash giant Belaruskali, tut.by sais.
On Tuesday, at the press conference for Russian regional journalists Aliaksandr Lukashenka reiterated that that Belaruskali was worth $30-32 billion but “some oligarchs want to buy it for $15 billion.”
“They proposed we sell Belaruskali for $15 billion: $10 billion to the treasury and $5 billion for me at an account I’ll designate,” Lukashenka said.
He also mentioned a “negotiator Misha” sent by Russian oligarchs.
Mass media speculated that a “friend Misha” could be tycoon Mikhail Gutseriyev.
“It is nonsense. Why the businessman who was trusted one of the largest investment projects by Belarusian government would have done such things, risk?” Russneft representative noted.
Another manager of the oil company called the reports “some misunderstanding” yet he confirmed Lukashenka is in good relations with Gutseriyev.
Belarusian government and Gutseriyev have been friends for a long time.
Gutseriyev’s Russneft and affiliated enterprises supplies Belarusian oil refineries with oil.
Siarhiej Martynau, Belarus’ former FM, became the chief of Russneft office in Belarus.
Some enterprises controlled by Gutseriyev implement several other large investment projects in Belarus.
Today, leader of the United Civil Party Anatol Liabiedzka recommended the Prosecutor General to investigate the facts voiced by Lukashenka at the press conference.
“The things voiced by Lukashenko yesterday about $5bln bribe for Belaruskali privatization are nothing else but a crime,” Liabiedzka supposes.
Anatol Liabiedzka is sure the case must be investigated immediately and the “negotiator Misha” must be in prison instead Alies Bialiacki.
“If it does not happen, he [Misha] will come to authorities with the case of $10bln, not $5bln,” Liabiedzka says.
If the law enforcement agencies do not respond to such publicly voice facts, it means that “a safe privatization” or simple mass corrupted sale of state property has begun,” Liabiedzka said.
