On the red carpet, Carrey appeared with longer and darker hair than usual, which in itself changed his familiar look. But users paid the most attention to his face – his eyes and the shape of his eyelids.
Some viewers found the actor unrecognizable. Comparisons with photos from past years began online, and with them, speculation about possible cosmetic interventions emerged.
The publication PrimeTimer published a comment from Beverly Hills plastic surgeon Millicent Rovella, who suggested that Carrey might have undergone upper eyelid correction surgery. Other versions were also discussed: from Botox and fillers to the consequences of unsuccessful plastic surgery.

Fans began to argue whether he used contact lenses, or if it was simply an effect of bright stage lighting. Others appealed to common sense, explaining the changes by age, camera angle, and makeup.
Another detail fueled the discussion. Carrey is a known left-hander, however, in videos from Paris, he is noticeably signing autographs with his right hand. This became the main argument for proponents of conspiracy theories.
An additional wave of rumors was provoked by drag artist Alexis Stone. On his Instagram page, he published a post with the caption "Alexis Stone as Jim Carrey in Paris", showing the process of creating a mask and wig identical to the actor's look at the ceremony. Some users took this as proof of a swap. Some went even further, claiming that "the real Carrey died" and his place was taken by a double.
The organizers of the César Awards categorically refuted these rumors. They emphasized that the actor's visit was planned in advance, and he arrived in Paris accompanied by his loved ones: his partner, daughter, grandson, and friends.
In any case, even after announcing the end of his career, Jim Carrey remains a figure capable of eliciting a strong public reaction. As the evening in Paris showed, it takes just one stage appearance for the entire internet to start talking about him again.
